Dear Library Supporter,

The year 2018 marks a stepping stone for the Gardiner Library as we celebrate our ten year anniversary on Farmer’s Turnpike. From the beginning, when hundreds of people formed a human chain to transfer books from the old library to the new building, the Gardiner Library has been supported and driven forward by the community we serve.

Today, we ask you to support our efforts with a tax-deductible gift to the Gardiner Library’s 2018 Annual Appeal fundraiser. Please understand thirty percent of the library’s annual budget is raised through such fundraising.

Your generosity has allowed the library to operate without an increase in public funding from the town since 2008, the year we moved to Farmer’s Turnpike. However, staffing and operating costs have continued to grow and in order to maintain and expand our resources we count on your private donations to preserve the Gardiner Library as an exceptional community resource.
2017 Highlights:
  • Over 30,000 visits to the Gardiner Library
  • 1,000 program sessions with at least 15,000 attendees
  • Mario the Magician performance on new outdoor stage
  • Performance by world renowned tap dancer Brenda Bufalino
  • Free math and reading tutoring, free AARP tax aide services, Italian conversational classes,
free lectures, exhibit space for local artists, Slow Jams, super storytimes, Repair Cafes, writing workshops, free meeting space for local Girl Scout Troop and the Gardiner Rec. Summer Camp,
    and so much more
  • Access to 18,000 print materials, 174,000 electronic resources and 4,000 videos,
    audiobooks and CDs
  • Passes for free admission to Mohonk Preserve trails, Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, the Motorcyclopedia Museum, the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary and New York State Parks
    with the Empire State Pass
In the next 12 months the Library Board and I plan to ask for your input to help us develop our next three to five year strategic plan as well as a ten year, long term plan. Our three to five year strategic plan will guide our programming decisions in the future, helping us focus on the areas where we can benefit and positively impact the community the most.
Because of your generosity, the Gardiner Library will continue to offer high quality programs and resources to more people, improving the quality of life in your community. We thank you for making it possible.

Nicole Lane, Library Director and
